Distribute Your Press Releases via Multiple Channels
Which press release distribution channel(s) should you use? All of them.
To get the most exposure for your press release, distribute it directly to relevant reporters via email pitches, and directly to influential bloggers, and through a newswire service, and via RSS syndication feeds. The more outlets you distribute your press release through, the greater your chance of finding an editor or journalist who is interested in sharing your story with the public.
If you have a good "hard" news story and the luxury of time, first pitch the story as an exclusive to the most influential and widely read reporters and bloggers. If that doesn't inspire interest, post the press release in your website's press room and ping Google and Yahoo. Include extra keyphrase-optimized details in the press room version so Google and Yahoo will consider that version of the press release to be the most authoritative. This will boost your website's search engine rankings for those keyphrases. Then it's wise to quickly pitch the press release to less influential reporters and distribute via a newswire that offers widespread RSS syndication as part of its service.
